So what does this challenge consist of? We are going to following the ketogenic diet. Not sure what that is? Once again, I’ve got you. What is keto?
For me the challenge started today. Sorry, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing. It ends on Christmas Eve at my Feast of the Seven Fishes celebration with my family.
To give a quick rundown, here is what the diet will consist of: High fat, low carbs. There is going to be a lot of bacon, ground beef, chicken thighs, eggs, green beans, cabbage, cauliflower, almonds, avocado, heavy whipping cream, etc. If you are on your way to the store grab those things I just listed and it will get you through the first few days. And if you are not able to drink your water from a faucet you will need plenty of bottled water. Coffee and water is what we will be drinking.
We are going to be staying under 25 net carbs daily. If you are unsure what net carbs are, here you go: What are net carbs? It’s basically carbohydrates – dietary fiber.
In addition to that, we are going to do intermittent fasting. This is when you eat all of your meals in an 8 hour window, leaving 6 hours a day where you do not eat anything. Since this is two weeks we are going to turn up the heat and fast for 20 hours a day. Outside of the 20 to 24 hour window you are able to drink coffee with heavy whipping cream or even bulletproof coffee, if you are into that kind of thing. Don’t knock bulletproof coffee until you try it. You will get a boost like you have never experienced. Give it a shot! If you are not into that kind of thing, I highly recommend you getting on board. Coffee is incredible as an appetite suppressant and energy booster. Without it intermittent fasting can be extremely challenging.
We’ve got two weeks, so diet alone isn’t going to get us where we want to be. Every night I am going to work out. Not just going to leave it at that and saying I am going to “work out.” You need details, right? I am going to do DDP Yoga nightly. It’s about 30 minutes of cardio and muscle building. It’s good for me because I have suffered injuries that make it difficult to lift weights or anything too strenuous. If you are in a similar situation maybe it works for you! I am in no way affiliated with DDP Yoga (thought I am working on that), so if you click the link and purchase I gain nothing from it. Regardless, it’s a great program and I highly recommend it!
Well, we’re almost ready to go. But first let me show you some before photos so we can see exactly how much I achieved in two weeks. Not for the faint of heart.
Glad we got that out of the way. I’ll try not to flex too hard on my after photos.
Starting weight: 203.8 pounds. Hoping to get close to 190, but weight is not that important. It’s how I look and feel. Hopefully much, much better in two weeks.
I will be documenting EVERYTHING I eat every day. That starts Monday December 11th. I am going to be drinking 8 to 12 cups of water a day and I will not document that. Here we go!
Well, I made it through. Lost 6 pounds exactly. Since the results weren’t as big as we hoped, I’m not going to do the after photos. Plus I hate photos like that of myself. Unless I get a six-pack, don’t count on them anytime soon.
Thanks to everyone for following along. Hope to see everyone for my next challenge. If you haven’t joined my email list please do so. I plan on sending a detailed PDF on how this challenge went down with plenty of good information in it.
