It’s coming up on the time of year for camping. You don’t have to fall off the keto wagon just because you are going to be outdoors. Let’s go over some keto camping foods.
One thing that can easily be done at a campsite is eggs, bacon and sausage. You can either use a grill to heat up your pan or cook it right over the fire if you are truly an outdoors person. Pro tip: crack the eggs and put them in Tupperware containers before you leave so you don’t have to worry about broken egg shells everywhere.
When it comes to keto snacks, there are many different options of things that won’t go bad. Almonds, hard boiled eggs and some types of jerky are great low carb snacks that don’t go bad quickly. When it comes to jerky make sure you read the label and see exactly how many carbs
are in each servings. Sometimes jerky can have a surprisingly high amount of carbs in it.It’s not a camping trip without a weenie roast. You can load up on wieners. Pass on the ketchup and bread. Roast all the weenies you want and you are still eating keto-friendly! You can wrap them in cheese, dip them in mustard, even ketchup if you aren’t too heavy of a dipper.
Another great option is cooking on skewers. You can do chicken and veggies. You can put bacon on a skewer. There are loads of options. Just go with meats and low carb vegetables and your skewers will be a huge hit.
Foil packet grilling is another awesome option for keto camping. You load up a foil packet with meat, vegetables, seasoning and some oil and/or butter. You cook it over a hot flame for a while and you have an incredible meal.
